Nowadays I'm advancing beyond the anime-esque proportions to dream-like semi-real stuff. I think this will be a good way for me to step away from anime and become a better artist.

I was looking through my high school portfolio and stumbled upon one of the last projects of illustration class. Looking at my children's book-project and knowing the release of the iBooks Author app on the Mac App Store, I thought to myself, "Why don't I try to make a whole storybook? It might not be the best story, but I have so many ideas for it."

At the moment, I'm rewriting the story I thought I had control over. In high school I thought my manga-like drawing style would be sufficient, but now I realize that the characters I want to include cannot be drawn in such a way. I will have to explore as I did a few days ago on how to draw not storybook proportions, but whimsical characters most people would jump back from and be amazed by. Anime has severely limited me, especially when it comes to animals. There will be a lot of animals in this story.

So, I will be drawing in my free time on weekends as always a lot of characters and dues I owe to people plus sketches of the story. I would really like to complete this story as soon as possible once I finish the actual writing. I think it would be amazing to read a story I created on an iPad.
